Contact and complaints

Nextroom is run by its founders in the United Kingdom. For anything on this page, email admin@nextroom.club. Please don’t send passwords or other sensitive details.

Report something on Nextroom

If you’re a member, the quickest way is Report on the profile, post, comment or message. Choose a reason and add a note if it helps. We review every report, and the person you report isn’t told who reported them.

If you’re not a member, or something can’t be reported with the button, email us with a link to it and what’s wrong. You don’t need an account to report illegal content.

We remove illegal content as quickly as we can once we know about it, and we may suspend or close the account that posted it. Where the law requires, we report it to the police or other authorities.

We aim to review every report within 2 days, and the most serious, such as threats or a risk to a child, the same day. If you emailed us, we’ll confirm we’ve received it within 7 days. We don’t tell reporters the outcome of member reports, but you can appeal if you think we got it wrong.

If you think someone is in immediate danger, call 999 in the UK, or your local emergency number.

If something on Nextroom has upset you or made you feel unsafe, support is available. In the UK, under-19s can talk to Childline on 0800 1111, and anyone can call Samaritans on 116 123.

Appeal a moderation decision

If we’ve hidden your post, comment or message, suspended or closed your account, or not acted on something you reported, and you think we got it wrong, email us. Tell us:

  • the email address of your account, if you have one
  • what the decision was, with a link if you can
  • why you think it was wrong

We’ll confirm we’ve received it within 7 days. Someone will look at the decision again and tell you the outcome, usually within 14 days of that. If we decide we got it wrong, we’ll undo it, for example by showing your content again or lifting a suspension.

Complain about Nextroom

You can also complain about anything else, including how we’re meeting our online safety duties, for example if reporting doesn’t work or our terms aren’t being followed. Email us and we’ll handle it the same way as an appeal.

If you’d rather not get updates about your report, appeal or complaint, say so in your email. We’ll only contact you again if we need more information to deal with it.

Privacy requests and complaints

To get a copy of your information, or use any of your other rights under data protection law, email us from the address on your account. We’ll reply within one month. You can correct your profile and delete your account yourself in Settings.

If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your personal information, email us with “Privacy complaint” in the subject. We’ll acknowledge it within 30 days, look into it, keep you updated and tell you the outcome without undue delay. If you’re still unhappy, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113. The privacy notice has more detail.

Requests from the police and other authorities

Email us from an official address. We’ll respond to lawful requests and may need to check that a request is genuine first.
